The Trouble with Being a Virgin

Longer stories like this one can be read to the halfway point, and then used for writing prompts. Have your students write a conclusion. What will happen in the second part of the story?

The author describes growing apart from her two best friends in junior high as they began cutting school and experimenting with alcohol and pot.

After they start high school her friends begin acting strangely around her and eventually reveal they have lost their virginity. In an attempt to renew her bonds to her friends, the author decides to lie and say she lost her virginity.

Will she be found out? How? Will she admit the truth? Will her friends tell other people? How will her lie affect her friendships? What will her friend do about her pregnancy?
